We are home from the Hospital
Since, we have came home from the hospital. Adrian for the most part is back to being himself. My son Adrian has Down Syndrome, having a child with Down Syndrome can be a very trying with all the medical issues that arise from just being born with an extra chromosone. For my son this one little chromosone has caused him to have to undergo more surgeries than a typical child would have to go through. The first issue with my son was his heart. He under went heart surgery at 5 months of age. My faith was tried at that time. I spent a lot of my time in what they call the Meditation room in prayer, on the day of my son Adrian's heart surgery. Well, he pulled through with flying colors that day. Today at the age of 15 years, he still is going strong, without heart medication. But my son still has had battles that has to be over come. One is that his commuciation is not what it should be. My son does not hear well and as everyone knows if one does not hear well than they are not going to articulate words well. I being a single mom had to work outside the home, I feel guilty at times for having to because if I did not have to work outside the home to support my family, Adrian would be wearing his hearing aids and would be talking. But I am not Hermione, nor do I have a time turner to be able to be in two places at the same time. I do have a replica though and I wear it as a reminder that I as a muggle can only do so much.
Sorry I got sidetracked of what I was talking about, ok so where was I Adrian has had tubes put in his little ears a number of times to where I lost count, and I mean little ears because with Down Syndrome, the ears are smaller than a typical persons ears. This las surgery was his second surgery done on his left eye for retina retachment. The reason was because Adrian develop to much scar tissue which was pulling at his retina causing to detach. The doctor had to go in and remove the extra scar tissue that was cause the retina to pull away. I was told this can be a hereditary trait. Meaning that some people develop more scar tissue than other people.
Adrian will have to undergo another surgery procedure to remove the oil bubble that the doctor had to put in Adrian's eye to hold the retina in place while it heals. I hope and am praying for a miracle that this will work, my son is already blind in one eye. I wish that I would have known that Adrian was having trouble seeing out of his right eye, if I would have known maybe his sight could have been saved in that eye. But I did not know, nor could Adrian tell me that he was having trouble seeing out of that eye.
