Things that are of interest to me

Well I am done with the course Working with Families and tomorrow October 24 I start the course Psychology Gender. I am very excited. Working with Families was a very interesting course. I learn a lot from it. I ended up withdrawing from Psychology of Gender do to a conflict of interest. But I have not given up. The problem was what i was doing at my job was wearing me out, to the point where I did not want to do anything except lay down an sleep. My hours have changed and so has my job to benefit me.Next term I am taking is Racism and Sexism.

I  find that working as a hostess has some great advantages over working as a cashier. I can think of 3 main advantages, 1).  You have a better opportunity to have a little bit of a conversation with the ones you take to be seated. 2). You get to get exercise that you do not get standing in one spot all day. 3). You do not have to worry about your draw being over or under the amount. I am writing this because someone asked me which I like doing, I have an answer for her, I would have to say hosting. Especially if the cashiers can keep the people flowing in at a steady pace. It is harder on ones legs and feet standing in one spot than moving.  For the most part I have Monday's off. And I really wish that I had this Monday off since I am finishing up the last eight week of introduction to counseling. I am going to mention this to the supervisor not to schedule me on either the last day of the eighth week or the following Monday.

I have received an A in Rural Communities Classes. And my mid-term grade in Intro to Counseling I received An A. I am learning I am currently on Chapter 13. The title of this chapter is Evaluation and Research,  Each chapter has a poem that starts the chapter off. While I was out on my way to decorate my mother's grave I saw two houses that I found to quite interesting if you look closely you can see the door entry is fantastic for this time period. It looks like it belongs in a faerie realm or the dark ages. The house below the first is a house that looks likes it popped out of the Sleeping Beauty fairytale book. It looks like it could belong to the three fairy godmothers that tried to protect Aurora from the wicked fairy Maleficent My mothers' graves sight out by the Vet's Home.   My Dad's grave sight out at Rose Hill in Marshalltown, below is my Aunt Doris's grave sight.it too is located at Rose Hill the woman that did what my mother could not. Labored at raising me and my two younger siblings.  This last one is my grandparents on my Dad's side grave sight it is at Rose Hill  too. All had a hand at who I am today and for that I will be for ever great full. 

This was the house I grew up in, the town that it is in is St. Anthony, Iowa. The house has had some changes to it, but the upstairs window area,was mine and my sisters' bedroom. When I was going up there was know fence. Looking at it is sad in a way to see thew changes that have been done to it. Why a fence in such a small town it makes the friendly house I grew up in look so unfriendly now.  This is a picture of the woods in the back of the house I remember playing in. I had a lot of fun dreaming of being in Sherwood forest. Robin Hood was a childhood hero of mine. I have and still am interested in Kings, Queens, knights  type stuff. Ancient history I enjoy.     This is the area that our neighbors The Eastons' lived. I remember getting together with the neighborhood kids to play a game of softball or kickball in the summer time.  I can also remember building snow forts on the curb of the road to have snowball fights. It was a lot of fun. This...

My mom has had more than her share of knockdowns but she's always stood back up, dusted herself off, and walked forward...even if it meant walking with a limp. So far I have to do two discussions one on Defining Rural and the other on Rural Social Work and Framework. I have yet to do an Article Summary, the first one I am supposed to research a current event article from the internet that would be an original challenge for a rural community anywhere in the United States. I am to read the article and summarise it by stating the conflict and possible or actual services or agencies that may have been utilized to serve that rural community. At the moment I, a stumped. But I am praying that God will guide me on my quest to get this 3-page summary written. I am claiming the promise that with God all things are possible, and that God will help me with this assignment as well as all the others. later update on this.

Well, I  am about to embark on another journey in furthering my education. I am taking this term  Human Services in Rural Communities. My first two posting will be on Defining Rural and Rural  Social Work History and Framework, plus I will be turning in Article 1 by Sunday at 11:59 pm.I  wanted to go full time but with working the hours I work I find that it is just to much and not  enough  time to get everything done. I am wanting to land a job working with special needs for some  organization somewhere hopefully in Iowa. I am willing to relocate if I have to so I can  obtain my   dream job. I am going to use this as my journal to keep track of what I am learning

This spring I took two classes Communication Leadership and Professional Ethics. Grade for Communication Leadership was a B, I did a lot of writing in that class. A Journal every week and other writing the instructor wanted us to do. It was a challenge in that I am working,and going to College, I am going to college because I do not like  the job I have. I do not want to spend the rest of my life behind a cash register. The number one reason is, I want a rewarding job, working at a cash register is not rewarding for me. Professional Ethics I am going to repeat, It is a required course for  Human Services. I failed that class because  because at BVU online classes do require 15 hours  each to make it through. I already work about 30 hours a week, not because I want to but because I  have to it is hard going to a job that you hate. Well I I finished my first term at BVU online And I am in my second term. The classes i am enrolled in are Leadership Communication and Professional Ethics. I just finished my first post in Professional ethics. We had to look up a professional code of ethics, I choose Human Services since that is my major. I am also finding that I am not the only one in my age range going to college. There is also a 60 year attending as well. It makes me feel good that I am not the only one seeking a career change.

I find this video to be something that I would like to do. To help keep the environment clean from rainwater run off. I think this is an awesome idea. I hope that I will be able to find someone to help me implement this at my house. I could use the water to water my Fairy Gardens, I hope to create this summer both in the front and dack yard. 

This Video is about Geothermal Energy, my college class is studying about Global Warming and this is one of the videos that I had to watch in order to do a discussion on it. There is two more that follow this post. My Class is interesting I can say that  for it, But do I think we have any thing to worry about, maybe but it sure would be nice to be able to save money to heat ones home. I believe you can agree with  me on that.

This video is about Hydro Energy and it is very interesting to watch. It talks about how water can be a source of energy.This plant is located in Africa, It mention something to do with Carbon Credit. It is no joke there is such s thing as Carbon Credit.

It is 4:00 am: Where is all this snow;that the weather people predicted. It looks the same outside as it did yesterday. It just goes to show that one truly has to take one day at a time. Walmart was very busy yesterday for a Monday, the way people think they have to stock up as if they are going to be snowed in for an entire month. I mean come on really. I have lived in Iowa all my life and I can honestly say that I do not ever remember being out of school that long during the winter. I lived in a rural area too where the school buses traveled on gravel roads. So people please stop thinking that you have to believe everything you here on the news. Like I told Adrian's case manger yesterday wait a see what tomorrow brings. She wanted to cancel because of so said, blizzard.

I have been studying in my class at BVU about Global warming. The book that we are reading and doing so writings about is World on Edge  Author is Lester Brown. Early in my posts I posted a video that we had to watch.     Well, since it is the month of January I have taken a picture of my deck, one is right after it snowed, the other is about a week later. Here is the first photo taken  And here is the second photo. The point I am trying to make is that this being January, the snow on my deck should not have melted like that. It should still be there, and I know that it would have been if global warming was not a real thing.

I am have been thinking,about how time changes things. Time changes at lot of different things, Time has been know to change relationships, sometimes for the better,and sometimes not. But this post is not about relationships. This is about how time changes how one lives, when I was as young as what my grandchildren are. Television was the norm of every household. Not that it was bad, because back than Television had a lot of good moral values on it, that helped my generation to grow up. There were shows, that taught how one should treat another, Examples, The Brady Bunch, Partridge Family, Room 222, Leave to Beaver, Bonanza, Rawhide, Gilligan's Island, Land of the Giants. Of course we had our crime shows too, examples of those are Mod Squad, which by the way was my favorite, there was and I believe still is Hawaii Five-O.     Know to change the subject, weather has even changed. I was thinking about my granddaughter's upcoming birthday. As I was browsing the internet for adult coloring pictures that I could print off and color on my 15 min breaks at work , I was thinking about my grandsons and what they might be interested in coloring as well. My son Adrian woke up at 5:30 am this morning. He woke up because he had wet the bed. My son has Down Syndrome. He is 14 years old, Why does the school not want to toilet train children with special needs that are like Adrian. I mean really do not the schools care; maybe the staff at the school should go around wearing depends all day long. Than maybe they would know what it would feel like to have to have a paper product next to their sink all day. I think something should be done to get schools that  teach special education to first get this out of the way. It would make the student's day go better as well as the people that work with special needs students. I mean going to the bathroom is a daily living activity. It should be first priority, after all it is a dignity issue. Does one really know what is on the mind of a special needs person, that is unable to articulate what he/she might be thinking. Or does society still view special needs people as being less than human. True, ...

Well, Classes start tomorrow. Question am I ready? Answer is yes, I have already begun to read out of my two textbooks. One of the books is titled World on Edge. I have read the first chapter and I have to still read Chapters 2 and 3. I am trying to takes notes as I read the chapters. I am doing this with spiderscribe.net. In the other book I have read Chapter 1 and 17. I have yet to read Chapters 18,21 and 22. I will be very busy this next eight weeks.     I was suppose to have gone to work today at Walmart, but the computers in the store was having issues. Hoping that they will be resolved by tomorrow, which I am sure they will be.

Well, for the spring and summer of 2016, I will be spending roughly $260.43 not adding  the third term price of books which was at about $45.00 Chegg.com is a good source to get all your college textbooks. They are really very reasonable.  I chose to rent the textbooks from Chegg.com Saving money is one thing I really like to do.

Well, the only good thing, I have to say is that my textbooks from Chegg .com should be here tomorrow, I am sign up for one class but it has two books. The class is BVU seminar. There will be a lot of writing to the class from what I am told. I can not think of anything exciting to write, but I will just say I am so hoping that I can start classes this month Jan. I really do not want to have to wait. But if I can not I will work more so I will not get bored at home. Update: Well, the lady I was suppose to talk to about classes at BVU was not in today. The way that it looks I might have to wait until March to start back up at taking classes. Oh well, what is eight weeks but time. I sure hope I can get a BA in Human Services, Because I do not like having to work weekends or  feeling like I am working to make someone else rich, I  like helping people but not that way. Wal- Mart is a hard company to work for. They expect you to be there even if you are under Doctor's orders to stay home. This to me is not right, what is sick leave for if you  can  not use it when you are sick, And why do you have to risk you life or vehicle when it is recommended by the national weather people to stay off the roads if at all ...

I hope everything will work out so I can go back to BVU starting in Jan. 2016. Did some checking and chegg.com does have textbooks at  reasonable prices. One can either rent or buy. I hope to be able to get the 7 day free ebook while I am waiting for  the two textbooks. The courses that are offer at BVU at the Marshalltown location runs for 8 week terms. I hope to get started in January, for I really do not want to have to wait until March. I will know Monday. But if I have to wait, I have to wait. I know the final decision is in God's hands.
